Dawn Philip (she/her), JD, LCSW, is a psychotherapist and former public interest lawyer working with communities and institutions to advance social change for the past twenty years. In her current role as the Equity and Inclusion Clinical Supervisor at Swarthmore College’s Counseling and Psychological Services, Dawn brings an equity framework in engaging students, faculty, and staff on cultivating holistic mental health and wellness. She also maintains a private practice in Philadelphia, PA. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, Dawn engaged in litigation and policy advocacy around environmental and racial justice issues in New York City. In addition to advocacy on behalf of marginalized communities, Dawn was the Dean of Counseling and Diversity Initiatives at the Skowhegan School of Sculpture and Painting and the Reproductive Justice Project Director at the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum. Dawn’s current scholarship and work focus on how systems—cultural, political, economic— interact to pattern human behavior. Dawn has received several opportunities to continue her work including the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Minority Fellowship and the Georgetown Women’s Law and Public Policy Fellowship.
